Small Home Designs with Big Ideas
Whether you want to 'Marie Condo' your life and simplify, only have minimal space or limited funds, we have solutions for you.
Below are some ideas to inspire you on how to live a great life in smart, smaller space.
01. Say Hello to Marlo
Meet Marlo, a compact and stylish design at just 72m2, perfect for an inner city retreat or a rural escape amongst the trees. This popular format is simple in nature but inviting.
The home encourages social bonding with a generous living area and kitchen opening to an optional expansive deck, perfect for mingling with family and friends. This opportunity to open up large sliding doors to the deck, doubles the liveable space. The european laundry is another practical feature and allows for clever storage without impacting on space. The well-designed master bedroom located at the rear of the home has ample space and large robes.
This format can be oriented to maximise northerly solar gains through the living areas taking advantage of passive heating and cooling techniques.
02. Clydesdale Country Weekender
This rural retreat provides a compact, ergonomic design that celebrates 'the luxury of less'. The 8.5 hectare site in Clydesdale just outside of Daylesford has beautiful 270 degree views overlooking a large water feature and jetty. Our prefabricated modular design has been sited on top of a ridge to make full use of the views. It captures the combined essence of the Archiblox Lennon and Fox designs with the house split between one main living module at 72m2 and a detached ‘guest pod’ at 19m2, enabling flexibility between living spaces.
The kitchen has been created to maximise space by adding sophisticated joinery units which use a mixture of overhead and full height cupboards, including storage in the island bench cavities. The master bedroom is plentiful, with a long set of robes and windows from floor to ceiling to maximise views of the surrounding landscape.
The addition of a seperate studio to the side of the home can be used for accommodation, giving its owners a second source of income, enabling them to rent out this stand alone bedroom and ensuite to couples or the entire property to families. It can also be converted to a teenage bedroom, office or workspace.
03. Portsea Paradise
Hidden between the tea tree, this beachside hideaway has a small footprint of 102m2. It's based on the Orlo. Flexible and adaptable, this home can cater to all kinds of arrangements.
The unassuming frontage, provides privacy and protection from the elements. Once inside, the home opens into a 'L' shape shielding the yard from the street. The large windows and glass doors optimise views of the outdoor entertainment area and encourages northern light to penetrate deep within the home. Creating warmth and comfort throughout the year.
04. Backyard Retreats
Freedom to spread out, somewhere to work, to relax, entertain or create; maybe your family’s growing or your business is expanding or a Granny Flat is required? The backyard room is perfect. This flexible pod could be multiplied for accommodation purposes or used for yoga studios, retail pop ups or home beauty salon. Whether it's residential or commercial this simple modular dwelling could be the perfect fit, and if you move you can simply pick it up and take it with you.
These rooms act as perfect getaway retreats, music rooms or just an old-fashioned man cave. The functionality really could match to any application and with the flexibility of modular design they can expanded in size to suite your needs.
